``Wert'' for chrome tanning, ``Altern'' for tanning

dünn offers two types of leather with different textures and usability.

Wert

This is leather tanned using a chromium compound derived from metal. After tanning, the leather becomes whitish, so it can be dyed in bright colors. The characteristics of chrome tanning are its vivid color and durability. It is more resistant to scratches and water than tanned leather, which will be described later, and can be used for many years while retaining its original appearance.

Altern

This is leather tanned using plant-derived tannins. The texture is similar to "tanned leather". Tanning preserves the soft texture and texture of the leather itself. Due to its nature, compared to chrome tanning, it scratches easily if scratched, and discolors quickly if it gets wet. However, this is not necessarily a disadvantage; in fact, many people are attracted to leather because it is easy to fluctuate. If you take care of it frequently, the light brown color will change to a candy color, and the scratches that were bothersome when you first started using them will become endearing to you as proof that you have lived through the same time together. Of course, it can be used without any care, but taking care of it will change its beauty later on. Chromium and tannins each have their own benefits. 0. Things to prepare

・Leather products ・Waterproof spray This is the product I used this time. A fluorine-based spray that provides waterproofing while maintaining breathability. There is also a silicone type, which is used for things like raincoats and umbrellas. Applying silicone-based products to leather can cause damage, so be sure to use fluorine-based products.・A soft cloth, such as an old T-shirt, is fine. If it's made of cotton, it's even more gentle on leather.

1. Wipe away dirt from leather

Remove dirt and dust from the leather by stroking it with a soft cloth. If it's already wet, wait until it's completely dry.

2. Shake evenly about 30cm away from the leather.

Do not shake too much. The aim is for it to turn a pale wet color. The colors change slightly between the beginning and end of the video loop. Can you spot it?

3. Once it dries and returns to its original color, shake it again.

You don't have to wait for it to dry completely. Follow the same steps as step 2, shaking evenly and not too much.

4. Once dry, pat the surface with a different cloth from step 1.

If you use a cloth that has been used to wipe dirt, the dirt will transfer.

5. Do a water repellency test in an inconspicuous place.

It is easy to understand and tested in conspicuous locations. As you can see, it repels water well! This is perfect! However, even if it is waterproof, it only buys time for water to seep in, so if you notice it getting wet, wipe it off immediately. Even if the surface is waterproof, the entire leather absorbs moisture from the moisture in the air, so let the moisture escape when you are not using it.
